On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to attend a fundraising event in Des Moines featuring U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan. Before running for office, Senator Slotkin served as a CIA analyst, completing three tours in Iraq and working on the national security teams for both the Bush and Obama administrations.

Rethinking National Security

Despite her deep experience with global threats, her message was clear: the most urgent challenges we face are here at home. As she put it, the greatest national security threat to our country is the erosion of the middle class and the American dream.

A Call to Step Forward

I had the honor of sitting with Senator Slotkin during the event, and I left feeling deeply inspired by her clarity and conviction. Her message was a powerful reminder that this is not a moment to sit back and wait for change, we are the ones who must step forward. Together, we have the responsibility to fight for our state and for working families, and I know we are ready to meet that moment.
